600px-information_icon.svg Problems with Facebook and Social Networking Sites?

House staff are receiving an increasing number of complaints about comments made on social networking sites. As you may be aware, pupils are denied access to social networking sites such as Facebook and MSN at school. Many parents, however, are happy for their children to use these sites at home in the evenings and at weekends. Relatively minor remarks made online can carry far more force and be far more difficult to resolve than those made face to face and some young people are adopting increasingly aggressive and abusive language as their on-line norm. In addition, young people will sometimes use social networking sites inappropriately for the purpose of bullying and harassment. Parents should be aware of this when allowing their children to use these sites at home and be prepared themselves to take appropriate action should problems arise. As a school, we promote all aspects of good citizenship and also undertake to educate our students about safe use of the Internet. Whilst we do intervene when issues spill over into school, you will appreciate it is not possible for us to solve every argument between your children that happens outside of school.

We would respectfully ask that:
• Parents monitor their child's use of the Internet
• You encourage your child not to say anything insulting or negative on-line or by text
• You liaise directly with other parents where there are on-line friendship issues
• You consider blocking offenders and removing them from your child's contact list
• In serious cases, you use the on-line reporting of abuse facility provided by your service provider or, in extreme cases, contact the Police.

Thank you for your co-operation with this.

Welcome to our website

Peter Wickert

May I welcome you to the Holy Trinity Church of England Secondary school website.

Since this wonderful school was opened in 1969 it has gone from strength to strength and consistently achieves outstanding academic results at all Key Stages which are well above the national average.

However, I do not believe that Academic results are the sole purpose of a comprehensive school. This school is above all a Christian school and it is this which underpins everything we do and say. Whilst not every member of staff is a practising Christian they all do uphold the Christian principles and ethos of the school.

Our Core Values are based on Christian principles with reference to Mark 12, 30-31:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

  • To Value ourselves as individuals and learners with unique gifts and talents
  • To value each other and the communities we live in
  • To value the created world

The Holy Trinity School is a very special place of learning. The calm and pleasant ambience of Beith Court - the main quadrangle - reflects the care, happiness and family values which are a unique part of this successful school.

Together with the highly qualified and dedicated staff, I will do my best to make sure that your child receives all the help, attention, love and encouragement needed for them to achieve their potential and make a valuable contribution to society.

I believe this is the finest school in West Sussex.
