·          To equip students with the skills and knowledge to successfully move onto the next stage of their education after Year 11.

 

Key features:

Students will learn about CV writing, job applications and interview techniques.  Students will find out when open evenings are and explore a range of career based learning tools to help them decide their future pathways most effectively.

·          To equip pupils with the resources for effective examination planning

Key features:

Tutors will provide an opportunity for students to be introduced to GetRevising and create a personal login.  Students may begin to explore how to make revision timetables during this time.

Students will complete a Survey Monkey questionnaire, during tutor time, to begin guiding them towards post 16 choices.

Strategy : Pre-mock assembly

Key features:

Students will go to the Drama Studio, during tutor time, for an assembly giving key information to help them in the final stages of their mock preparation.

Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet with A Level and BTEC Level 3 teachers and find out about the courses on offer and the grade requirements for entry to the Sixth Form.

Strategy : Mock Results Afternoon

·         To provide students with an experience of examination results day, to aid their examination focus

Key features:

Students will receive their mock examination results in an envelope during Period 5, in a similar format to how they will receive their results in the summer.  Please contact the tutor/subject teacher if you wish to discuss their mock results.

Strategy : Year 11 Consultation Evening

·          Teachers of Year 11 are available for consultations, with a specific focus on pupils meeting their target grades

 

Key features:

Information from Year 11 grade reports is discussed with parents and students

Application of students within lessons and home learning form a central part of the discussions

Opportunity for parents to gain an understanding of what their child needs to do to achieve their target grades.

Strategy : ‘Positively Mad’ revision techniques and guidance day

Objectives:

·         All Year 11 students receive guidance on revision and study skills techniques and preparing for exams

Key features:

Students develop skills to prepare them for the pressures of revision and exams.  Students will have the opportunity to discuss ideas and are taught a wide range of skills, including exam stress coping strategies, revision structure and revision techniques, allowing them to prepare effectively for the exam.

·         To formally celebrate the good levels of effort amongst Year 11 students throughout the year.

 

Key features:

Year 11's who reach a 3.00 effort grade average in their March report data will be invited to Graduation.

This is a formal evening of celebration, where students, parents and teachers join together to celebrate their achievements.

 

Strategy : Transition Week

Strategy : ICT and Computing catch up sessions

·          To facilitate progress in the CA projects

 

Key features:

·         Students will be invited by their teachers during the year as the need arises.  Regular assessment by the staff will flag up when students need to attend these session.  Students will be invited verbally to attend after school.  If a student does not attend then parents will be informed that their son/daughter needs to come along to specific sessions.

Strategy : Maths Revision Sessions

·          To help students develop their knowledge and understanding of a range of topics

·         To support the development of the skills students need to apply their knowledge to a wide range of exam questions

Key features:

·         These sessions will have a workshop format and are open to all students in Year 11.  Some of the sessions will run on regular evenings after school, one for each tier

·         Other sessions will be 'open' sessions when maths staff are available for students to seek help with their work, including homework, as well as providing opportunity to do revision tasks. Available during some lunchtimes and after school

·         We are continuing to subscribe to MathsWatch and MyMaths, plus there are resources on Doddle 

·         Easter revision sessions usually run over 2 days (timing in the past has been 9am-12pm) with separate sessions for each tier.  Details to be confirmed at a later date
