GCSE Results day 2019 - A cause for celebration

The Headteacher, Rev Chrissie Millwood, is delighted with the achievement of her students who sat their GCSE and BTEC Level 2 examinations this summer. She commented:-

l am delighted with these excellent results that we are all celebrating today. We are all very proud of these students – their positive attitude, their dedication to hardwork, and their desire to be successful. They have been a delight to have in the school and it has been their commitment to their studies, and their willingness to engage in the support offered to them, that has enabled them to be successful. Congratulations to everyone on their achievements.

Every individual has something to celebrate today and there have been some particularly stunning individual examination results. Amongst the many, there were seven students who achieved an outstanding average grade of 8 (equivalent to an A* grade) or above in 9 or 10 qualifications:

· Thomas Rose - average grade of 8.42

· Bethany Whitmore – average grade 8.40

· Julia Ochelska – average grade 8.22

· Tegan Chorley – average grade 8.11

· Natasha Cook – average grade 8.10

· Francesca Ritchie – average grade 8.00

A further 13 students each achieved an average grade of 7 or above (equivalent to an A grade) over 9 or 10 qualifications.

Rev Millwood added:

Our teachers and support staff equally deserve praise for their excellent work, which enables our students to enjoy this success today. Staff have worked incredibly hard over the past year to support these students, and have definitely gone ‘the extra mile’ for them. I know that this dedication is appreciated by our students, and that they recognise this has contributed to their success today. We are looking forward to welcoming the majority of our own students back to the Sixth Form in a couple of weeks time, where they will be joined by a number of students from other schools and colleges. Our post-16 results this year demonstrate that we continue to provide excellent education and pastoral support, which enables our students to grow and flourish.

For those who are moving on to new opportunities – we will miss them. We know that the foundation we have provided them with will enable them to continue to be successful in the future.
