Our pastoral system is central to the guidance and support we give your child to help him/her to progress well academically. On joining Holy Trinity each child is placed in a mixed ability Tutor Group. Each Year Group also has their own Director of Learning who will monitor their progress and help guide students along appropriate learning pathways throughout their school career.
Your child's Tutor is usually the first point of contact if you have any information to share, or concerns about your child's education or welfare. Subject specific enquiries would normally be addressed to the subject teacher. If in doubt, our Reception staff will happily advise you of the most appropriate person to contact.
When appropriate, we may refer a child to the School Nurse for a variety of health or developmental issues. We have a limited School Counsellor service, for when your child’s education may be affected by deeper personal issues, although this cannot replace services normally accessed through your GP or privately. Whilst we strive to work with parents, your child may, on occasion, wish to speak confidentially to the school counsellor. We also work closely with various external agencies to help students make the best progress possible.
Additional support is given by the Director of Learning for each Year Group and the Directors of Intervention for Behaviour and Welfare.
Children who experience difficulty academically, socially or in terms of meeting behaviour standards may require support from one or more of the following:
- The Learning Support Department: SENDCO
- Pupil Entitlement Investigation (Attendance)
- The Primary Care Trust School Nursing Team
- We may also refer to a number of other partner-services and interventions
Referral for such help, if appropriate, is usually made by the child’s Director of Learning or the SENDCO.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, we co-operate with other agencies and initiatives at local and national level, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Details of our Safeguarding Policy are available in the policies section of the website.
